Last Saturday, we had teams Â鶹ŮÀÉ_R3START and Â鶹ŮÀÉ_Bubblegum competing at St Helena School in Essex at a VEX V5RC regional. A solid start to the day saw both teams paired together for the first qualification match, which they managed to win!

From then on, both teams enjoyed successful runs, with Â鶹ŮÀÉ_R3START finishing 3rd after qualifications and Â鶹ŮÀÉ_Bubblegum 5th. The teams formed strong alliances and met in the semi-finals, where Â鶹ŮÀÉ_R3START emerged victorious in a well-fought and slightly controversial game. They went on to win the tournament, as well as securing the Skills Champion and Design awards. Overall, it marked an excellent performance from both teams as we start to look towards the National Championships at the end of February/start of March.

It was an early morning start for Â鶹ŮÀÉ_LOG1N, Â鶹ŮÀÉ_ MATR1X and Â鶹ŮÀÉ_MAVERICKS at the Highgate Junior School. The teams had a challenging start to the day in the practice and first few qualification matches due to mechanical and coding issues, but the boys fervently worked on their robots to rectify the problems and started getting better scores in the matches. Notably, all three teams posted their season best score in the Driver and Autonomous Skills Challenge.
In the Finals Round, Â鶹ŮÀÉ_ LOG1N and their alliance held the high score of 47, before being dethroned by the eventual Tournament Champions, the alliance of 2 QEB teams, with an astounding score of 95. Impressively, Â鶹ŮÀÉ_MAVERICS won the Design Award from the judges who recognised the design and iteration of their robot which has evolved over the course of the season.
The boys did really well to show resilience and perseverance despite the challenges faced on the day. It was a great effort and we all enjoyed the day.
