Surf Trip to Morocco

Over the October half term boys from several year groups had the opportunity to surf in Morocco...

Krishaang B. (4ths)

My first surf trip was an absolute blast! From the moment I got up on the 23rd October, I was teeming with excitement as we headed to Morocco. Each day was filled with fun activities from hiking to paradise valley to sandboarding in the desert. Of course, the surfing was the best part.

On the first lesson, we were introduced how to surf by our incredible guides, led by Zacheria, and it was an extremely fun lesson. Although I got swept to the other side of the beach for the majority of the time, I was able to stand up once on the board, and it only got better from there. With each lesson, we improved and stood up more on higher waves. By the last day, which was also my birthday, I was able to repeatedly be able to stand up and ride the wave till it finished which I am very proud of. On my birthday, the teachers pleasantly surprised me with a birthday cake at dinner while everybody sang 'Happy Birthday' which I really appreciated, and I thank them for making my 14th birthday unforgettable.

The accommodation was incredible, with stunning views of the ocean and the town of Tamraght, outstanding Moroccan cuisine and very kind and helpful staff. Each evening, they would organise a fun activity for all of us to take part in, from Bonfires with marshmallows and apples to live Berber music! It was truly an experience which I will always cherish.

It was sad leaving Morocco, but all good things must come to an end, and I am confident that there will be many more such opportunities in the future. Thank you to Robbie from Schools go Surfing, our Outdoor Education department and especially our fantastic teachers who were extremely caring and so much fun, for making it the best trip it could be! I highly recommend future surfing trips, and I am excited for next year's one!

Over the October half-term, we had a lovely opportunity to visit the coastal city of Tamraght, near Agadir, in Morocco. Although the main purpose was to provide us with a chance to hone or learn the skills required for surfing, the teachers and the company Schools Go Surfing gave us many chances to embrace and learn about Moroccan culture too.

We woke up to a selection of Moroccan delicacies and there was plenty of downtime where we could do some relaxing yoga to stretch our aching muscles after surfing. Overall, the trip was an insight not just into the finer points of surfing but also into the lives of Moroccans in and around Agadir. It was a very deep exploration into Morocco; I would definitely go again!

Rufus N. (U6ths)

I recently returned from an amazing surf trip to Agadir, Morocco. The trip was a great mix of adventure, relaxation, and cultural experiences. I enjoyed surfing the waves at Agadir's world-class surf spots, along with the large variety of activities such as yoga, jewellery making and more, letting us unwind.

In addition to surfing, I explored the local markets, browsing the colourful stalls and shopping for unique souvenirs. I also had the opportunity to experience Morocco's' nature, hiking through the beautiful hills and valleys surrounding Agadir. The trip was an incredible experience which I'll always remember.
